Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB cancels the admission consideration list of candidates earlier sent to the tertiary institutions.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has withdrawn the list of candidates earlier sent to the tertiary institutions for admission consideration, this was contained in a statement from JAMB through Fabian Benjamin, the organisation’s head of media.
The announcement was contained in a statement by the spokesperson for JAMB, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, on Sunday in Abuja.
“Candidates should not panic because this is part of the process of the 2016 admission exercise. JAMB regrets any inconvenience this decision would have caused the tertiary institutions The Board regrets any inconvenience it’s proactive step would have caused the tertiary institutions.”
“This is to ensure that the University Senate perform its statutory responsibility of conducting the selection of candidates and refer it to JAMB for confirmation in line with the admission criteria of merit, catchment and educationally disadvantaged states as directed by the Hon Minister of Education at the policy committee meeting.
“The earlier list was sent to help fast track the process of admission so as to allow other tiers of institutions also conduct their admission.”

Also, The Joint Admission And Matriculation Board (JAMB) issued a letter to VCs, Rectors, Provosts of tertiary institution over the withdrawal of the admission consideration lists has been made public by JAMB.
The contents of the letter are writed below;
RE: Conflicting Guidelines on 2016 Admissions
Dear VCs, Rectors, Provosts,
This is to bring to the notice of all Chief Executives of the Nigerian Tertiary Institutions that JAMB has withdrawn the second lists of candidates sent to your various institutions for screening.
The lists have been withdrawn from JAMB website for candidates’ view.
You are to conduct the admission screening process and comply with the benchmark as well as distribution criterion set according to the Federal Government directives.
The Board regrets any inconveniences the lists have caused the tertiary institutions.
