The Federal University of Agriculture and Development Studies, Iragbiji (FUADSI), has announced seven new academic programmes for the 2026/2027 admission session. The new courses cover computing, security studies, communication, international relations and public administration.

The announcement, released on 27 October 2026, followed the successful completion of a National Universities Commission (NUC) Resource Assessment Exercise for the proposed programmes. The exercise took place on 28 September 2026.

The development expands FUADSI’s academic offerings beyond its existing agriculture, science and management-related programmes.

What the New FUADSI Courses Cover

The new programmes introduce additional study options in technology, social sciences and public affairs.

1. Information Technology

Information Technology focuses on the use and management of computer systems and digital technologies. The field covers areas such as information systems, computing infrastructure and the application of technology to organisational and business needs.

2. Cyber Security

Cyber Security focuses on protecting computer systems, networks and digital information from unauthorised access and cyber threats. The discipline is relevant to organisations that depend on secure digital services and information systems.

3. Software Engineering

Software Engineering deals with the design, development, testing and maintenance of software applications. It combines computing knowledge with systematic methods for building and managing software products.

4. Criminology and Security Studies

Criminology and Security Studies examines crime, criminal behaviour, security challenges and approaches to maintaining public safety. The programme brings together the study of crime and broader security concerns.

5. Mass Communication

Mass Communication focuses on how information reaches large audiences through different media channels. Its areas of study include journalism, broadcasting, public relations, advertising and media communication.

6. International Relations

International Relations examines relationships among countries and other international actors. The field covers diplomacy, international politics, foreign policy and cooperation between nations.

7. Public Administration

Public Administration focuses on the organisation and management of government institutions and public services. It examines public policy, administration, governance and the implementation of government programmes.

FUADSI Completes NUC Resource Assessment for the Seven Programmes

Before announcing admission into the new programmes, FUADSI completed an NUC Resource Assessment Exercise.

The exercise began on 28 September 2026 and covered all seven proposed courses. The university presented its human, physical, infrastructural and other relevant resources for assessment.

On 2 October 2026, FUADSI announced that it had successfully concluded the exercise. The university subsequently announced the commencement of admission into the seven programmes on 27 October.

The assessment marked an important step in the university’s effort to expand its academic offerings.

Other FUADSI Courses for the 2026/2027 Session

The seven new programmes are not the only courses available at FUADSI. The university’s 27 October announcement also listed existing programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session.

These include:

Bachelor of Agriculture (B. Agric.)

  • Crop Science
  • Soil Science
  • Animal Science
  • Agricultural Economics
  • Agricultural Extension
  • Horticulture and Landscape Management
  • Agribusiness

Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)

  • Fisheries and Aquacultural Science
  • Forestry and Wildlife Management
  • Water Resources and Agro-Meteorology

The new programmes therefore add computing, communication, security and public affairs disciplines to the university’s existing academic options.

What Candidates Should Know About the New Programmes

FUADSI’s announcement confirms the seven programmes and states that admission into them has commenced. However, the announcement does not provide individual admission requirements, UTME subject combinations, programme-specific cut-off marks or O’Level subject requirements.

Candidates should not assume that the requirements for existing FUADSI programmes automatically apply to the new courses.

There is also an important application-status issue. As of 2 November 2026, the university’s general undergraduate application portal states that it is no longer receiving new applications for the 2026/2027 session. The portal notice does not explain whether the seven newly announced programmes have a separate application arrangement.

Consequently, the admission announcement should not be interpreted as confirmation that the general application portal is currently open for new applicants to these courses.

Conclusion

FUADSI has announced seven new academic programmes for the 2026/2027 session: Information Technology, Cyber Security, Software Engineering, Criminology and Security Studies, Mass Communication, International Relations and Public Administration.

The announcement followed the successful completion of the NUC Resource Assessment Exercise in September 2026. It represents an expansion of the university’s academic offerings beyond its established agriculture, science and management programmes.

Although FUADSI announced the commencement of admission into the new courses, candidates should distinguish that announcement from the current status of the general application portal. The university has not provided programme-specific admission requirements in the announcement, and its portal currently displays a notice that it is no longer receiving new applications for the session.
