Dates That Need Special Attention
Some universities use different dates for resumption, registration and lectures. Students should not treat these dates as interchangeable.
For example, the Federal University of Science and Technology, Kabo lists October 3, 2026 for returning students, while fresh-student registration begins on October 5. First-semester lectures start on October 12.
Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University also lists October 5 for returning students, while fresh-student online registration begins on November 16. That fresh-student registration date does not mean that physical resumption takes place on November 16.
Obafemi Awolowo University lists October 31 for fresh students and November 15 for returning undergraduates in its proposed 2026/2027 calendar.
Important Note for Students
Before travelling, confirm the date that applies to your category. A university may give separate dates for arrival, registration, clearance, orientation and lectures.
Universities can also adjust their calendars. Check your institution’s latest official notice before making travel arrangements.
Conclusion
The 2026/2027 university resumption dates in Nigeria vary across institutions. Fresh students and returning students may have different arrival dates, while some universities bring both groups back at the same time.
Use the table to identify your university and student category, then confirm the latest instructions before travelling.
